THERE are few fashion weeks that exclusively focus on men. Next week, Bengaluru will witness an all-new fashion event dedicated only to men. The India Luxury Style Week — Men’s Edition 2017 (ILSW) makes a debut with Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador.
Conceptualised and curated by fashion designer Ramesh Dembla, ILSW will be a five-day affair with designers such as Rohit Verma, Himmat Singh, Rohit Kamra and Nivedita Saboo. Rohit Kamra, known for his opulent Indian wear, a favourite designer with the likes of Irrfan Khan and Randeep Hooda, will be showcasing his signature Modern Maharaja Collection. “It will essentially be a summer palette with blues, greens, pastels and undertones of bright colours in my signature silhouettes that include Jaipur collar shirts, half jacket, bandhgalas and breeches,” explains Rohit.
Talking about the event, Ramesh says, “There are many fashion weeks happening in different cities in India, but there wasn’t one exclusively for men. Men’s fashion is no longer just about a jacket or trousers. There’s a lot more to it and each designer will showcase their creativity.” Five to six designers will showcase their lines each day. Ramesh too will be presenting his new Grunge Collection.
“It is the adaptation of the grunge concept in shades of black and grey. Black will be showcased in a fun, trendy, high-street avatar through cowl necks, cowl jackets and a lot of drapes,” he says. Brand ambassador of the fashion week, Akshay Kumar will be walking the ramp for Ramesh’s show.
