In her Spring/ Summer 2018 collection titled Belong, designer Sunaina Khera has attempted to explore the deeper connection that man once shared with nature. She mentions, at the onset of the interview, that she chose that as the theme because the said connection is weakening, thanks to an excess of technology and social media.

The Delhi-based couturier, who recently dressed the likes of Miss World Manushi Chhillar and actress Kalki Koechlin says, “The designs are bold and I have drawn heavily from the elements in nature as far as the inspiration for hand-crafted embroidery go.”  The colour palette veers towards shades like deep reds, earthy browns, burgundy and metallic hues. The collection that constitutes of evening wear mostly includes sheer halter gowns with thigh-high slits and bold metallic ensembles. The dresses are rich in sequin detailing. The fabrics that have been used include silk organza and tulle.

Her next collection, she says, is ready to hit the shelves in a few weeks. “I plan to call it Half-Moon and it is based on the love story of someone I know,” says the designer without revealing too much. The fashionistas can order for her made-to-measure outfits via her Instagram page or her website.
