Indulge, the lifestyle supplement of The New Indian Express, hosted a spectacular 11th anniversary celebration at the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai on October 27. The publishers released a mega 100-page keepsake edition, and also hosted a specially curated fashion show called Indulge Style Check, to mark the occasion. The show at ITC Grand Chola saw the likes of Minnie Menon, Thai Consul General Krongkanit Rakcharoen and even Chennai’s ADGP Thiru Sunil Kumar, among others in attendance.
The show, hosted by Paloma Rao, started with models walking the ramp for brands like Palam Silks and Pothy’s, to present some of their finest collections of silk saris. Designs from PN Rao for men saw traditional as well modern designs ranging from kurtas to suits making an appearance on the ramp. Stepping up the style game, fashion brand Manam collaborated with electronics brand Noizzy Box, in a sequence featuring models on the ramp with colourful speakers and desi swag, to add a touch of music with a funky element.
With such a great start to the evening, Salsa Madras’ Arun Srinivasan and Sneha gave things an extra edge with a fabulous salsa performance, making many an audience member want to get up and shake a leg. Lagan made an appearance with models in royal sherwanis, shimmering in gold, walking the ramp as the brand’s in-house fashion designer Rajiv ended the proceedings in style. With such a wonderful performance, the credit was due to none other than Chennai’s own Karun Raman, who choreographed the entire show to make it a successful one.
However, the show wasn’t over yet as the finale also celebrated 11 years of Chennai’s favourite fashion designer, Rehane. The designer awed the audience with a display of fashion in retrospect, featuring all kinds of jaw-dropping designs from 2007 onwards, followed by her most recent designs. A showcase of themes like Alice In Wonderland in 2011, Marks of Love in 2012, Naqshband in 2013, and Anatolia in 2014, followed by Metallic Collection in 2015 among others, also made a reappearance on the ramp, leaving the audience completely spellbound.
