Kolkata designer Abhishek Dutta, reputed for his grunge and edgy fashion wear, has come up with a fresh, vibrant and very ritzy Puja special collection. “There is an inter-play of lots of bright colours this Puj especially canary yellow, bold shades of pink, orange, vermilion red and aqua colours including blue and green. The cuts and silhouettes have a lot of twists this season with Indo-Western wear trending big time. Attires like floor-length anarkali kurta with jackets, and flared pants teamed up with short crop kurtas, extended long kurtas and drape kurtas are all in fashion big time,” says the couturier, who very recently launched his affordable prêt label, Parole, made by inmates of Alipore Correctional Home.

The designer, who has come up with a whole fresh range of handwoven fabrics and saris teamed with jackets and crop tops, feels that one should opt for more bright shades and pastel colours this Puja including pista green, coral pink, mint green, and lemon yellow and go for comfortable cuts, such as, bolero with palazzo pants, drape kurta with leggings or jeggings and jacket with short dress.

“You should keep your make-up minimal and in shades of nude, and wear statement pieces to stand out. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes that can see you through all the pandal hopping and running around,” tells the designer.

Tnusree on fashion, fitness and Puja

Since the very beginning of my modelling days, I have believed that fashion is what makes you comfortable in your skin and also what’s soothing to others’ eyes. I also firmly believe that the outfit shouldn’t overpower the person wearing it. I am a great fan of comfort wear and pastel shades including peach, pink and coral shades, that are my eternal favourites. For night-outs though, I prefer dark wine shades that go well with my complexion. For day-wear, I love long flowy maxi dress- es with floral prints.

Off white or beige is another favourite colour of mine. I am in love with kalamkari prints but I love them more in dresses and fabrics than a sari. The linen digital prints are also something that I love. For night-outs I prefer one-piece dresses, long or short. At times during winter, I also love putting on a nice white linen blazer with trousers. Among accessories, I love bags and I am a big shoe hoarder with over 500 pairs of them. Since I have flat feet I am very choosy about shoes and mostly love wearing flats. My make-up on a daily basis comprises lip gloss, mascara and cream blush since I love accentuating my cheekbones.

I am a great foodie and also a very good cook but I take care to eat in portions and gym regularly. During the Pujas, my initial days are blocked due to endorsements and this year, it’s all the more special since Gumnaami is releasing. This is my first with Srijit Mukherji and I will be busy promoting it. The last two three days from Ashtami onwards, I usually try to be with my family and friends and just relax over good conversations and great food.
