A much-in-demand couturier among the Bollywood brigade including Sonam K Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Priyanka Chopra to name a few, Tarun’s clothes have also been much appreciated globally for their European cuts and silhouettes, and international styles seamlessly melded with very traditional Indian drapes. What are the cuts and colours in trend during this Puja?

Traditionally, Bengali women wear the classic laal paar sari (white sari with red borders) for Durga Puja. However, today’s modern woman is looking at contemporary ways to incorporate the traditional by imbibing the festive favourites — whites and reds — in new and innovative ways.

Women want to experiment with Indian fashion, and now, look to wear lighter lehengas, anarkalis and straight chikankari kurtas too, in colours that celebrate festivities. One should stick to classic, traditional and Indian attire during these five days.

What should one keep in mind while selecting festive wear?

One should always opt for simplicity and elegance, whether you take the traditional or contemporary route. Select pieces that reflect your personal style and do not follow trends blindly. Impeccable tailoring and attention to detail are of paramount importance. Keep your make-up light, and be yourself.
