Jaipur-based sustainable clothing label The Monkey Brain Co. (TBMCo.) has come up with easy-breezy summer resort wear collection. Named Resort 19, the collection is inspired by the designer duo Akshita Ratusaria and Vijayta M Ratusaria’s extensive travel experiences across the globe.

Deeply inspired by all things 'nature', the couturiers use biodegradable natural fibres, and all their fabrics are hand-woven. Each of their pieces has modern silhouettes and is replete with hand embroidery, hand painting, and block printing. But at the same time, the Ratusaria sisters have ensured that the fun element is intact in their clothing. In fact, the name of their label, too, is the fallout of a crazy Mojo Jojo doodle from Power-Puff Girls.

Their resort wear collection too is no exception. It is for the free-spirited, outgoing woman, who is elegant and fun and loves holidays and laidback evenings or weekends. The collection is divided into two segments: Warm Summer Days and Breezy Summer Evenings.

“We drew inspiration from the magical underwater and tropical life. It’s our first collection that’s full of colours and we have employed a lot of handicraft techniques. There’s aari work, zardosi work, hand painting, and handcrafted tassels,” says Akshita Ratusaria

Like their previous collections, the resort wear, too, is made of sustainable fabrics like linen, crinkly georgette; modal satin and flowing chiffon, which are very much in fashion this year.

We so loved their gorgeous dresses with cute hand embroidered starfish and pretty shimmery sequins. But what impressed us most is the fact that the craftsmen at TMBCo factory believe in using minimal paper and use waste fabrics for upcycled products. If you believe in ethical fashion and are looking for something chic, then The Monkey Brain Co.’s latest collection is surely worth a try.

Their clothing line is available online, too.
