Raw appeal

Finding perfection in imperfection, Jain plays around with the raw character of the stones to create  statement pieces. Jain says, “Jewellery is much more than just an accessory; it’s a reflection of one’s personality and style. I love creating statement pieces with a medley of stones and studs vacillating between different moods.” Jain started her label under the encouragement of her father-in-law. With a journalism degree from Cardiff University, UK, Jain honed her creative skills with a course in Jewellery designing in Delhi. “Veva J represents the first two initials of both our names — Vedika and Vanit and J is for Jain,” says the ace designer who also loves cooking.

Locket full of sunshine

Earrings, statement lockets, bracelets with semi-precious stones in its raw form, pearls, brass and metals are juxtaposed together to create artistic jewellery. We were impressed by an ivory coloured agate-based state-ment locket with stones entwined in with gold plated wires. A similar eight-inch long locket was quite edgy and could be teamed with both western and eastern outfits. Baroque pearls are her favourite and she has used the versatility of the stone to the fullest in earrings and bracelets with a modern look. She is currently fascinated with Solar Druzy and has used these vibrant stones, in different hues, liberally in her collection. While the bigger stones fitted well for a bracelet, giving an impression of a blooming flower, the smaller ones made for head turner earrings and finger rings. “I source the stones from across the globe and I find Solar Druzy to be very vibrant,” said Jain who believes in retaining the natural rawness of the materials used in her jewellery. Taking inspiration from nature, her collection includes motifs of animals like dragonfly, tiger, butterfly, horse and more. Flowers and leaves too, form an integral part of Veva J.

Though art is pricey but Jain informs that her jewellery is pocket friendly and starts from `1,500 onward.
