You might have experienced all manner of obsessions with clean, organic makeup buys, but a nontoxic skincare regimen is as essential as anything else. Kolkata-based all-natural beauty label Geelee Mitti has introduced a new range of skin and haircare products, most of which are made with essential oils and naturally sourced ingredients, which offer wellness properties.
Geelee Mitti’s alcohol-free perfumes, beard oils, rose water, anti-acne oil, massage oil, hair creams and aloe vera gels are already a hit among millennials across the country. Grin and beard it “Our beard oils have become really popular. You know, hair on your head is very different from your facial hair, and it needs nourishment. Some men need a form of nutrition to grow any kind of beard at all, and that’s where the beard oil can be put to good use. Our beard oils are really healthy supplements; they are a combination of almond oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils, as are most of our products,” says Ishan Bhasin, who runs Geelee Mitti, along with his mum, Sonia Bhasin.
Geelee Mitti’s hair cream, a natural styling agent, can also prove to be a better alternative, over hardened, greasy chemically formulated hair gels. Ishan tells us that his haircare products have found a tremendous response from patrons, especially among millennials who are always browsing for new grooming alternatives. “A huge part of our customer base is made of people who are losing their hair at a young age. Even if someone is shedding too much, or is suffering from premature greying, and they have tried a ton of chemicals which haven’t worked — then, they come to me,” Ishan tells us. Geelee Mitti’s hair thickness and herbal hair creams are incredibly popular, as are their hair repair oils. But the label’s natural perfumes are perhaps its biggest draw. Ishan tells us that the line of perfumes was conceptualised after he started making his own natural scents, for personal use.
“I used to make my own perfumes, and I wasn’t selling them. A friend of mine wanted a bottle, and then I got involved with an annual lifestyle and fashion flea bazaar that happens in Kolkata, called Calbunka, and I put up a stall there. Our perfumes are made of essential oils and attar, and there are no chemicals involved, ” we are informed. Geelee Mitti’s perfumes come in three categories: fruit, flowers and cologne. You can find their fragrances in strawberry, pineapple, mango, green apple and also in citrus and mint scents.
In the floral sections, we were delighted to find summer favourites like lavender and peppermint. The brand features a surprisingly refreshing curation of essential oils, which can sort out your entire clean beauty regimen. Expect essential oils made with jasmine, sandalwood, eucalyptus, lemongrass, cedarwood, ylang ylang. They also have oils made for stress- and allergy-relief.
