Delhi-based designer, Manika Nanda’s latest collection Colour Crush, gives western wear a new dimension this summer, as it brings you a mélange of colours and silhouettes that celebrate the different moods and facets of the bustling city.

“This is the first time that I have experimented with a lot of colours. The clothes in this collection are fitted silhouettes and very glamorous. But I have kept the designs very minimalistic and understated,” says Manika Nanda, an NIFT graduate.

"The collection captures a contrasting mood of flamboyance as well as simplicity, which reflects in the persona of a person who is independent vivacious and fun but minimalistic at the core," she adds.

The five-year-old label which specialises in western wear in solid, neutral colours, has brought out a slightly different range this time which is suitable for both formal and casual wear. Colour Crush, as the name suggests, uses luxurious fabrics like blended satins, delicate tulle and crepe de chine, in dresses, jumpsuits and evening gowns, while it also has skirts and pants which can be teamed up with whites for summers, to create a look which is both casual and dressy.

Manika, who has worked as a fashion stylist before, is currently working on dressing up actors for a yet-untitled web series. Among the Bollywood actresses, there are Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Shraddha Kapoor, Bipasha Basu among many others, who have worn her collection. "For me, fashion is a small fragment of what you like or how you feel at a particular period of time. But style is something more innate and personal," Manika tells us.

“My favourite colours are Marcella and emerald green. But in this collection, I have experimented with neons, mustards and teals. I have chosen a wide variety of silhouettes, such as peplums, frills, cutouts and sheath overlays- all of which accentuate the beautiful form of a woman’s body,” she adds.

Her new collection will be available at Citrine, Sasya and Bombaim in Kolkata.
