Chandni Agarwal found herself struggling when she wanted to outfit her newborn appropriately to attend a friend’s birthday party. “There was literally nothing a new mother with little time to step out of her house could buy,” she recalls. Luxury wear -wise, she couldn’t have been more right. While Chandni finally settled for an American portal that ships to India, it was still not the most convenient of options as she had to shell out a considerable amount of money for shipping and other extra costs. “I realised that something must be done about this and so came up with the concept for Little Tags,” she explains. The startup is an e-boutique that stocks kids collections by A-list designers such as Masaba, Shivan & Narresh, Monisha Jaisingh and Karishma Sahani Khan.
The fashion forward mom, looking to dress her child to rival the likes of North West, who favours fur jackets and velvet slip dresses over frills and flounces, would be thrilled to note that the website offers everything from clothes to accessories and jewellery. One can pick from the Baby, Boys and Girls sections. Under ‘Baby’ expect Swarovski studded headbands, and rompers that will set you back by Rs.3,000. The ‘Boys’ section stocks satin tuxedos and leather shoes, while under ‘Girls’, you’ll find yourself browsing through nude, one-shoulder dresses, colour-blocked bikinis and fringed capes. “Most of the designers I approached already had plans to start their own kids lines. So everything fell into place,” reveals Chandni, a former business professional.
Currently, the site features collections from 25 designers, but Chandni hopes to increase the number to 100 by next year.
