Want to travel in style? Take a look at the new line of bags by Kompanero
We treasure our leather bags for their vintage charm and weathered look. And, Kolkata-based Kompanero understands that, by offering an array of bags with a classy-aged look. The leather accessory label recently unveiled their Spring/Summer collection 2018 at Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, offering quite a few choices to those travelling this summer.
Indranath Sengupta, Director-Retail of the four-year-old label says, “Our latest range of bags is an ode to the breathtaking aspects of nature.” In sync with the theme, the bags have been divided into sub-sections offering Forest, Dew Drop and the Crescent Moon collection. One can expect a range of handbags, travel and portfolio bags and backpacks. The bags are crafted from vegetable tanned leather, processed with organic oils and natural tannins. Developed by their team of Italian, German and Indian designers, they have given the leather accessories a handcrafted finish. These bags can stand the wear and tear of travel and are put through an ageing process.
The bags are crafted by artisans, who weave and dye the pieces individually, making sure that no two bags are alike. “For instance, each dew drop motif woven panel takes a craftsman more than a day to complete,” chips in Indranath. The brand closely works with local communities of craftspeople and most of them are women. “In most of our collections, you will see a lot of different weaving patterns as a result of hours of intricate hand-crafting,” he adds. Keeping up with sustainable initiatives, the bags are packed in cloth dust packaging while dispatching. These biodegradable cloth dust covers, that are made of breathable fabric, helps one take better care of the bags as they offer protection from colour transfer, sun exposure and moisture, helping them put up with the ravages of time.
