Mumbai-based Kakandora has a festive collection of pleated gowns

It is that time of the year when all the fashionistas want to get their festive shopping started before Dussehra and Diwali. Keeping that in mind, Mumbai-based label Kakandora, recently launched their Autumn/Winter 2018 collection in Hyderabad at Taamara Women’s Designer Wear. “We attempt to blend Indian styles with Western cuts,” says Swati Mehta, who helms the label with her sister, Priti Baid. The fall collection offers options for an evening do where you want to amp up your glamour quotient. So expect dramatic elements like ruffles, bell-sleeves and asymmetrical hemlines.

says Swati. Their new prêt collection is divided into two segments — Maharani and Tangled. The fabrics used for the latter include chiffon, silks and the silhouettes are mainly layered skirts, embroidered capes, pleated gowns.

Maharani also uses silks and chiffon, much like Tangled. However, the ensembles here are more traditional. The designs in this one feature embroideriered ankle-length skirts with shrugs crafted with fine gold sequins and surface embellishments. One can also expect shararas with sleeveless crop tops, anarkalis, cowled skirts and tops. The colour schemes for both the collections revolve around earthy greens, greys and wine red.
