The Seiko 5 Sports has been in the market for nearly 50 years, and delivered high levels of reliability, durability, and performance, making it a valuable addition to any wardrobe. However, today, with the
creation of a new design and a broad new collection, this much-loved timepiece is hoping to make a name for itself. The makers promise similar values but offer a fresh look at the age-old design.

The Seiko 5 watch debuted in 1963 reportedly making it Japan’s first-ever automatic day-date watch. '5' represented the key attributes of the watch - an automatic movement, a day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and bracelet built for durability.

The makers of the new Seiko 5 Sports admit that they drew inspiration for the new model from previous models, and add that every creation in the new collection shares minor similarities - the minute hands, distinctive hour markers, similar casing and one-way rotation.

The steel mesh and silicone/leather hybrids straps have been incorporated for the first time in Seiko 5 Sports.
