Designer, Rajdeep Ranawat confesses that art and travel always influences his designs and his Spring/Summer 2019 collection, launched at Elahe today, is no different. It focuses on his travel to Istanbul last year — the sights he spotted and the colours he remembered. “I was fascinated by Turkey’s architecture and came back with 5,000 images from there,” shares the Delhi-based designer. Apart from that, the collection also uses metallic threads, beads, pearls, and sequins. “Since comfort was the key and I wanted the designs to be fuss-free, I have used imported Japanese silk,” informs Rajdeep. He also tells us that he has collaborated with conscious leather-free vegan label, by Shweta Nimkar, called PAIO for a refreshing take on the luxury resort shoes which are an extension of Istanbul collection. The shoes are also studded with Swarovski crystals and beaded in Japanese pearls. “The motifs on them include the arches of Istanbul’s monuments and is a nod to the opulent erstwhile Ottoman empire,” says the Lakmé  Fashion Week veteran.
