From apparel to jewellery, a host of first-time vendors are showcasing collections at the Amethyst pop-up
Check out Wild Orchid's festive assemblage

Wild Orchids is a first-time joint venture between Biju Jayadevan, co-founder of Kont-Act, a model coordination and casting agency and Mathangi Srinivasamurti, currently co-partnering Chamiers, the café-and-store. The two of them have managed to curate 12 apparel, jewellery and home decor brands from across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. “It’s easier to promote a group of different designers under one roof rather than each roof having a separate pop-up show. We are planning to make this an annual event,” says Mathangi. They are also working on expanding to neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka. Indulge picks out a few freshers to look out for —

Amodhini
Inspired by Tibetan artisans and their handcrafts during a trip to Nepal, Chennai-based Priya Sanath started this jewellery brand five years ago. The festive-cum-bridal collection will be launched at the pop-up. They range from kundans to meenakaris in semi-precious sapphires, topaz and alloys of metals like brass, copper and more. All these pieces are handpicked and worked on by artisans across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab. `3,300 onwards. Available at amodhini.in

Kokum
Roopa Rathi’s inspiration comes from the purple flower kokum, after which the brand is named, that grows on the Western ghats. The three-year-old Chennai-based brand features handwoven Chanderis from the namesake town in Madhya Pradesh, with a silk warp and a cotton weft, giving the fabric its famous gossamer sheen. The yarn is dyed organically and woven specially by the karigars of Rajasthan. Featuring a pastel palette of blue, pink and beige with rich zari work, look out for their butti, peepal leaves and floral motifs. Details: `2,300 onwards. Available at thekokumstore.com

Orange Saco by Magic Trunkk
While orange is the colour, “saco” means bag in Spanish. Love for bags has drawn Kolkata-based designers Jennifer Datta and Smeetha Guha into starting their own brand exclusively for clutches, slings and potlis. They launched their brand earlier this August at Kolkata and now have 15 outlets across the country. Look out for their festive line with gold and dhakai work on one end and funky denim on the other. `4,000 onwards. Details: orangesaco.com

Also expect semi-precious jewellery from Flames of the Forest, Kancheepuram saris from Silk line, ikat and boho-chic collections from SR by Sonali Raman and handcrafted décor by Olie, Vrindhavan home décor collection by Aline design and bed linens from Accents.
On August 25 and 26 at Amethyst. 10 30 am-7 30 pm. Details: 9382713370
