Seems like the season of luxury expos has started in the city again. After Fashion Yatra last Friday,  folks can shop till they drop this weekend at this year’s second edition of ABsalut Style exhibition. Curated by directors  Archie Paranji and Bobby Kandhari, the expo promises to bring an array of designer labels  and accessories. That apart, a section of wearable and functional art has also been introduced this time. The two-day fiesta starts on Friday evening with a preview. Talking about what one can expect,  Bobby says, “Apart from roping in well-known designers from all over India, we make sure to encourage new talent as well.”

Top picks
AM: PM by Ankur and Priyanka Modi and Rajat Tangri are some of the top labels to watch out for. The former will be showcasing a line of their Indo-Western line, while Rajat will bring a collection of long dresses and formal  Indian wear. “Bengaluru-based Latha Puttana is set to be a hit with her collection of saris and handwoven mul mul cotton tunics,” assures Archie.

Home turf bound
The expo will see a mix of veteran designers from the city as well as debutants. Preetham Jukalker, who’s all the rage right now with T’towners including Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Rakul Preet Singh, will showcase his range of exclusive ensembles designed from handcrafted weaves such as Ikat and Pochampally. Designer Vinita Pittie is also set to bring her collection of ethnic wear with a contemporary twist. “Expect to find drapes, wraps and kaftans in pure muslin. The cuts are flattering and the ethnic wear is classic but has a contemporary edge to it,” says the well-known designer. Fashionistas can also look forward to the  Collective by The Meeraki Project including 5 designers  known for creating garments from organic weaves.“We use sustainable fabric like silk, chanderi and cotton. There are long dresses, jackets, flowy garments, chiefly  Indo-Western,” says founder, Sonali Pamnani Jhabakh.

Wear your art
“This is the first time we have introduced a functional art section,” informs Archie. For instance, you can shop for cushion covers painted by artist Fawad Tamkanat which promises to spruce up your living space. Two exclusive neck pieces with miniature paintings by Delhi-based artist Seema Kohli will be on sale as well. Father-daughter duo, Priyanka Aelay and Laxman Aelay and Jaya Baheti are also scheduled to participate in AbSalut style this year. “I will be bringing a few multi-purpose wooden boxes with paintings as well,” informs Priyanka.
