Kolkata-based designer Rashi Kapoor's new collection, Hortus’s Kiss, is inspired by spring
This luxury resort wear collection is a nod to subtle embellishments and floral motifs.
Plunging necklines, Swarovski-encrusted ensembles crafted from lightweight fabrics and rose motifs are the key elements that define designer Rashi Kapoor’s new collection, Hortus’s Kiss. The line is inspired by spring, and will serve to add a hint of shimmer to one’s drab monsoon wardrobe.
Oh so glam
The latest addition to the Kolkata-based designer’s luxury resort wear line looks dreamy and romantic. The former student of London College of Fashion has attempted to celebrate the feminine form with her experimental silhouettes: “From asymmetrical hemlines to layers, the collection has been crafted for the fashionistas who unabashedly embrace themselves,” says the designer whose latest lace pant and cropped saree ensemble that actress Taapsee Pannu wore for an event in New Jersey garnered a lot of praise. Apart from that, there’s a distinct attempt at layering which, coupled with Swarovski embellishments, makes her designs look even more dainty. Known to extensively use floral motifs, Rashi has chosen her fabrics carefully to accentuate the desired flowy look. “We have used chiffon, organza silk, georgette, and butter silk in a way that the layers and ruffles come out as desired,” adds the designer. Apart from the colours of the spring, her latest collection is also inspired by the poetry of the Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke.
Patrons can expect to shop for off-shoulders and tea party dresses, bustier tops paired with embroidered jackets and Duchess pants, skater dresses, jumpsuits in georgette and tunics with ruffled collars. For those looking for ethnic wear, there are subtly embellished cocktail saris that are easy to drape and sure to put you in the spotlight with all those ruffles. The colour palette includes pastel shades such as like lilac, powder pink, and ivory. Perfect for a Sunday brunch, Rashi’s designs are for those who want something dressy without being over the top. Her collection is available online and can be ordered through her Facebook page.
