Mumbai-based brand Joules By Radhika launches its eclectic collections online

Trademarked by her signature geometric styles and use of semi-precious stones, her collections are a mix of bold kudan and temple jewellery that can be easily paired with ethnic Indian silhouettes.

Traditional jewellery craft fused with modern design aesthetics find an expression in Mumbai-based designer Radhika Chitalia’s latest collection of bijoux. Boasting celeb patrons like Zareen Khan and Sana Khan, the jewellery designer took her two-year-old brand Joules By Radhika online earlier this month, making her bespoke, coloured stone encrusted pieces available to clientele across the country.

“We have showcased in major cities across the country, including Chennai and given the response we have received, going online was the logical progression,” says the 38-year-old.Talking about her latest collection titled Unison, the entrepreneur who is an alumnus of Popleys Design Studio says the collection has been designed exclusively for the wedding season and features a range of meenakari neckpieces in a vibrant colour palette of blue, green, purple, red and white.

Trademarked by her signature geometric styles and use of semi-precious stones, her collections are a mix of bold kudan and temple jewellery that can be easily paired with ethnic Indian silhouettes. Meanwhile, her range of quirky oversized stone earrings have been designed keeping her younger clientele in mind.

Though she uses a variety of metal alloys like brass and silver, the designer prefers keeping the use of metal to a minimum and with focus on stones to create different patterns and textures. “The whole process of creating jewellery is similar to knitting,” shares Radhika, adding, “Metal contributes to only 15 per cent of my designs. It is the filigree work and polished and unpolished stones that add to the dramatic finish of each piece.” Crafted by a team of ten artisans, her range of earrings, long necklaces and neckpieces are often encrusted with baroque pearls, agate, turquoise, freshwater pearls and artificial diamonds (diamante).
