Salt Studio from Kochi, spearheaded by designer Diya John and entrepreneur John Joseph is bringing a mix of their latest collection to the city this weekend. “Hyderabad is our first stop on the four-city tour,” says the designer. Post that, the husband-wife duo will also take their label to Bengaluru, Chennai and Coimbatore. From the two-day designer expo, fashionistas can shop from three of the label’s ready-to-wear collections titled Vedic, Greek Hues and Nova.

Temple tales
The Vedic line comprises Indo-Western outfits with hand-embroidered motifs of temples. They are crafted in chanderi, cotton and come in festive colours like yellow, red and green. The silhouettes, however, remain modern such as peplum tops, palazzos, anarkalis and long tunics. “The artisans have inculcated zardosi work to add to the festive feel of this line,” shares the designer.

Like a goddess
Greek Hue, has an array of dressy cocktail gowns in silk replete with gathers and pleats. “This collection is inspired by the Greek Goddess Hera from the Grecian tales,” says Diya. Expect a fair share of dresses with long trails, heavy embellishments, and maple-leaf motifs on the ensembles.

Minimalist designs
While the other two collections are rather festive, Nova is more about a casual chic vibe and has outfits that would fit into your work-wear repertoire. The embellishments are minimal and come in various pastel hues. There are skater dresses, tunics, crop tops and straight cut trousers in this line.

Sari story
“Shoppers in Hyderabad are quite aware of the fabrics and cuts and know exactly what they want,” says the designer who has curated a collection keeping their preferences in mind. And for them, there’s a range of saris in festive colours like corn yellow and mauve, with thread embroidery embellishments.
The designer expo will be held at  Taj Deccan on September 19 and 20.
