Delhi-based Vidhi Singhania’s label offers an interesting mix of designer ensembles ahead of Diwali

Designer Vidhi Singhania, who is known for giving kota weaves a fresh lease of life, has a new collection of saris which will delight the connoisseurs of handcrafted weaves.This Delhi-based designer’s A-list clientele includes the who’s who of the city, such as Indira and Pinky Reddy. Also, the evergreen diva Sharmila Tagore has been spotted in her creations. 

A  few of label Vidhi’s latest collections that works for the festive season include Brocade, Kota Cluster Roses, among others. Available in jewel tones and earthy hues such as old rose, mauve, parrot green, maroons and off-whites, they are apt additions to the trousseau collection of a bride-to-be as well. Besides kota, she also works extensively with kattan silk and satin. Apart from the dressy saris she has unveiled an edgy collection called  Checkmate. The drapes from this collection have motifs inspired by the game along the border. Traditional embroidery in gold threads runs commonly through most of her collections. 

One can also spot applique jaali work and block prints along with tissue embroideries.  However, the designer who is set to create costumes for the film, Swords and Sceptres, based on Rani Lakshmibai’s life, says it is kota that got her all the love in Hyderabad.“This city is where  I  have the largest number of patrons,” adds Vidhi.
