De fab’s brand new outlet in Vennala redefines the limits of customisation
At her newly launched space sprawling across 30,000 sq ft, this woman entrepreneur is bringing all her services under one roof.
Eight years back, Priya Varma was just like most of us, a corporate employee who dreamt of launching her own venture. Today, her eponymous label, De fab, boasts of being the one-stop shop for all of Kochi’s sartorial needs ranging from locating the fabric in desired shades to personalised designs. At her newly launched 30,000 sq ft outlet named De fab In Style, this 30-something is bringing all her services under one roof. “My journey started in 2010 when I quit my job and acquired Fassini, a small stitching unit which specialised in customised clothing,” begins Priya, whose month-old space is equipped with a cafeteria, a private measurement area, fabric displays sprawling across two floors, and a production unit where one can watch the designing process live.
The right pick
A self-taught designer, Priya’s wide range of fabric collections include imported chantilly lace and silks from France, Korea, China and Vietnam. “Apart from the material, we also undertake exclusive dyeing orders from our clients,” shares the entrepreneur, who will be adding a dyeing unit to her production house in the near future.Crafted with pure fabrics ranging from katan silks to cambric cotton and rayon, her kurtis showcase Indo-Western silhouettes attached with sequined lace capes and floral embroideries. Saris are another highlight at this shop—with variants sporting crocheted motifs and designer silk pieces with thin zaris. “Keeping up with the rising demand from across the state, we will start retailing through our website soon,” informs Priya.
