Chennai Label ROIA's exclusive nose pin pop-up is here and you don't want to miss it
KUTCH-inspired nose pins, a line of edgy and fun septums and rose gold nose pins make up Rohita Vee, a 27-year-old designer’s nose pin pop-up called, The Nose Pin Edit. Her brand ROIA is all-silver, simple and sophisticated with the products personally designed, crafted and welded by her. She has just introduced two new collections — a Metallic Edit and a Mixed Metal Edit, where the former is minimal and organic in the sense that the metal work is light, with a beaten texture to it. “It isn’t smooth, and has a very raw finish to it,” says Rohita. The latter collection has mixed metals such as copper, brass, rose gold, white gold and silver patinas.
A one-woman show, Rohita handcrafts each and every piece, sans machinery and took about three weeks to come up with over a 100 different pieces for the show. “This pop-up is an amalgam of all my collections,” says Rohita who has been running ROIA for four years now. “I have included pieces from my old collections that are most loved, few everyday basics such as plain simple geometric silver nose pins, big and bold pieces, coloured patina nose pins, nature-inspired nose pins, nose rings, stunning naths and septums.
There are clip-ons too for the ladies who haven’t pierced yet.” The pop-up is being organised so that Rohita can connect with her customers, since ROIA is fully-functional only as an online brand. What’s interesting is that the pop-up will have a styling corner where they help you pick and style outfits according to their nose pins. Meanwhile, for the summer, Rohita has been working on her Summer Capsule Collection which will be out in mid-May. This collection will have a mix of earrings, necklaces and maang tikkas which will be limited edition as well.
