If you are a resident of Jayanagar, there’s a new hangout spot just two minutes from National College and its interiors are tailormade for Instagram. Located on a rooftop, Dyce — a fusion food café — has brown- and teal-hued velvet furniture, which complement the life-size mural on the adjacent wall. Perfect for casual afternoons and lazy evenings, their eclectic and extensive menu offers an array of dishes that span molecular gastronomy, European classics, bubble tea and more.

We found ourselves a cosy nook and settled down to kick off our lunch with Mango on the Rocks, a refreshing mocktail made using liquid nitrogen. The delightful ‘edible’ drink awoke all of our senses. Soon, a couple of appetisers made their way to our table — Mushroom Portebello and Jalapeno Corn 3 Cheese Poppers. Both deep-fried and stuffed with cheese, they were delectable. The former was served with a mushroom filling while the latter consisted of three kinds of cheese and jalapenos.

Next, we sampled the restaurant’s crowd favourites, Maggie Bullet and Nuts Crush Paneer. Mini-fried pyramids of diced vegetables wrapped with Maggi noodles, the former was a rewarding choice but the paneer, marinated in spicy sauce and sprinkled with thinly sliced almonds, wasn’t as palatable. For main course, we were first served Spinach Rice with Paprika Sauce. The slightly sweet spinachinfused rice went well with the piquant paprika sauce. Then came Broccoli Ontario, another ricebased dish paired with a creamy broccoli gravy.

To conclude our meal, we ordered the restaurant’s renowned chocolate Fireball but to our disappointment, the dessert was already sold out for the day. So, we chose another dessert from the menu. We tasted the Dyce Special Dessert, a dish where frozen chocolate pebbles crafted from liquid nitrogen are served along with an egg. When we cracked the egg open, we were in for a surprise as chocolate sauce poured out instead of yolk and egg white. The experimental dishes, the cold coffee with bobas and the picture-perfect ambiance will definitely bring us back to this chic diner.
