Deep Dish Meat Market Pizza

Good news for pizza fans! UNO Chicago Bar & Grill is here to change your impressions of cheesy Italian delight with their deep dish pizzas. While the menu had salads, appetisers and other pizzas on offer, it was the overloaded variant that beats all the options like thin crust pizza, pan pizza, cheese stuffed pizza, conizza, and so on, that are currently available in the city. The Pizzeria restaurant chain came to Kolkata last month and is spread over a lavish 1,400 sq ft at Swabhumi. The 300-seater restaurant brought to the city by the Ambuja Neotia group, is divided into four sections. Choose from sitting in the open area on the ground floor or the first floor. The rooftop will open soon and so will the watering hole. We loved the open air space that had an illuminated ‘I heart UNO’ marquee in it, but chose to sit on the ground floor near the glass window, overlooking the Subhash Lake, and watching the traffic go by...

Say, Cheese!

From the modest beverage menu, we were offered the tangy and sweet UNO Raspberry Lime Ricky, which had a punch of raspberry, lemon, cranberry and ginger ale. This was a refreshing powerhouse of vitamin C, we must say. Our recent resolution of eating healthy food got an instant boost with the Crispy Honey Chicken salad and we happily munched on the greens that were tossed in the honey mustard dressing.

The appetiser This, That and The Other comprising chicken wings, tenders and arrived with eight different dips for company. The dish tasted best with Honey Chilli Dip. You can also try it with Honey BBQ sauce, Chicago Fire sauce, Buffalo Wings sauce and more.

Baked stuuffed Spinocolli

The next session is unabashedly about indulgence. The pull-apart garlic bread unlike the usual slices was served as a loaf, drenched in not one, but two types of cheese. It was paired with a tapenade dip, made from olives and sun-dried tomato paste that complemented the preparation.

A regular 10-inch thin crust pizza was the next one to arrive. While the pineapple gave the pizza a sweet spin, the bite into the jalapeno topping offered a tangy punch, and we loved it. The real deal, Chicago Meat Market, arrived like a boss in the form of a personal pizza. Layered with three types of chicken and minced lamb, the deep dish pizza was around an inch in thickness and weighed 500 gms according to the rough estimate of the chef —that’s half a kilo! The deep and cheesy affair concluded with a slab of Seven Layer Chocolate Cake that looked like a mountain, almost impossible to conquer, after all the binge eating. We can sum up the dessert in just one word — sinful.
