The café was recently presented with the title of 'Namma Green Café' by the Namma Ooru Foundation, in honour of its active participation in reducing wastage and increasing environmental consciousness. Some of the café’s best practices include: composting food waste into plant fertiliser, reducing plastic usage through using sugarcane stirrers, refusing to use plastic bin liners, cloth bandanas for the staff, and innovative upcycling measures.
Speaking on these practices, co-founder Ashish Thadani says, “Making a commitment to the environment is something that comes very naturally to many cyclists, who simultaneously understand the need for good health and the need to cut down on toxic fuel emissions that other vehicles produce. We hope to inspire a movement towards eco-consciousness in the lives of all our patrons, through letting them see first-hand the importance and easiness of going green.”
