Chocolate nuggets to the dramatic Dragon’s breath, L’amour Chocolove Café serves the hottest cold treats

If you are a chocolate aficionado and don’t mind overdosing on rich creamy cocoa-inspired desserts, then L’amour Chocolove café is a must visit for you. The tiny chocolate-themed café that is located on a quiet lane at Lokamanya Street in RS Puram, opened a month ago and since then, their innovative desserts have drawn the city’s chocolate lovers to their tables.

Sweet explosion
Ramya Vasudevan, a business management graduate who owns the café, says that she decided to go with chocolate as the hero of the dessert bar as there were not many places in the city that exclusively served all things chocolate. “For most people, after a satisfying culinary experience, it is important to wrap up the meal with a good dose of something sweet. I decided to take that idea and run with it,” says Ramya. 

Take your pick
With 23 different flavours of chocolates wrapped in custom-made paper, L’amour goes all out to celebrate chocolate, probably why you find the café crowded even on weekdays. For starters, we try the chococups and find that it is a rich and decadent gooey black-forest cake stuffed inside a cup made of chocolate and served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. This comes in a variety of flavours like tiramisu, mango, raspberry and caramel. The macaroons at the café are a must try and while there are several flavours you can choose from, the strawberry cheesecake and lavender coconut are our favourites.

Dessert drama
On the topic of what sets their café apart, Ramya urges us to try the Dragon’s breath, a one-of-its-kind dessert and we decide to see for ourselves what the hype is all about. We were not disappointed when an assortment of munchies like choco-rolls, cereals, biscuits and sugar crisps were brought in a bowl filled with liquid nitrogen. “The frozen dessert has a dramatic smokey-effect from the liquid nitrogen and as you bite into it, smoke bellows out of the nose and tongue giving an illusion of a dragon blowing smoke.” 

L’amour also serves a speciality hot chocolate and different varieties of milkshakes with flavours like coffee, strawberry, Oreo and brownies, all laced with a dash of dark chocolate. And when you have had your fill of chocolates, the menu has a little something for those who like savoury dishes. From peri peri-flavoured French fries to chicken and corn nuggets, the spicy dishes give the palate a break from all the sweetness from the chocolate.
