THERE’S NO DENYING that the novelty of canned desserts lost its lustre ages ago. They are ready at every cake boutique and upmarket café. However, most of us haven’t had the pleasure of consuming Le Cordon Bleu London alumni chef Shriram Rajendran’s premium goodies which have undoubtedly elevated the concept.

The pastry expert—who sharpened his baking skills at UK’s Dorchester hotel and Chennai’s ITC Grand—has just begun to fly down his signature treats to our shores from a central kitchen. The goods are eco-friendly as each portion comes in a glass jar with a wooden spoon inside a paper bag.

“The brand was launched in 2015. Initially, we were a virtual delivery outlet and then became available in 150 restaurants within Chennai. We’ve sold over 5 lakh dessert jars so far. Currently, our products are also accessible in Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Puducherry, and the latest region is Kochi,” declares Shriram.

Scoop it out.
A simple spoonful of his luscious recipes will make you close your eyes, tilt your head back, and stifle a moan! If that seems like a tall claim, we urge you to try his special called Whey They Go. It’s a gluten-free mousse with no added sugar that boasts a cocoa flavour explosion due to the use of single-origin Belgian chocolate, milk, organic whey protein, and cream.

Expect to find such imported ingredients within products including rich sponge cakes doused in French raspberry coulis and smothered in German mascarpone cheese. Connoisseurs can rest assured, as The Table has over 21 different dessert flavours ready for pick-up (Kakkanad), dine-in (Grand Mall’s The Chocolate Room), or online delivery.

Our pick of the lot is their chunky salted-caramel brownie. Vegetarians can find eggless pastry options like gianduja mousse, as well. In short, The Table seems to have dessert options for everyone.

Available online via delivery platforms. `200 onwards.
