While in traditional Chinese culture, dim sum is usually savoured with tea, Yauatcha, the Cantonese restaurant, is hosting a festival that pairs wines with dim sum. With light, aromatic and full bodied whites to fruity, bold and robust reds, Yauatcha’s wine menu boasts almost a hundred varieties of old world and new world vino. This September, the restaurant presents a special menu that handpicks a selection of wines to be paired with its signature offering - dim sum!

They recommend fresh and pleasant Scaia, Tenuta Sant'Antonio Garganega Chardonnay from Italy or the fruity, floral and light Aregntian Dominio Del Plata Susana Balbo, Crios, Torrontes to be paired with the Shiitake Mushroom Dumplings, Crispy Vegetable Cheung Fun, Hargaus, Crispy Golden Pumpkin Puffs or Port Kelang Style Chilli Prawns.

If you're more of a red wine lover, try the Dominio Del Plata, Crios, Malbec that has aromas of freshly crushed black cherries, subtle coffee and vanilla, or the Scaia, Tenuta Sant'Antonio, Corvina, Italy that is well balanced by flavour and freshness from sour cherry, plum and berries. These pair well with rich dishes such as Stir-fry Lotus Root, Sugar Snap and Water Chestnut with Black Pepper, Crispy Duck Roll Dim Sum or Stir-fry Tenderloin in Black Pepper Sauce.

Yauatcha also offers sparkling wines and rose like Bisol, Belstar, Prosecco, Extra Dry from Italy or The Wolftrap, Boekenhoutskloof Rose from South Africa. Pair them with the Fried Turnip Cake, Mushroom Spring Roll With Black Truffle, Crispy Lamb With Raw Mango or Honey Smoked Spare Ribs.
