TECHIE-turned-entrepreneur Ramakrishna Ambati tells us that star
ting his own business was always his intention. Despite options of cushy job offers in the IT sector thanks to his degree from SRM University, this 27-year-old foodie and self-confessed extrovert chose to start a modest vegetarian café down Balfour Road in Kilpauk. The month-old Nonstop Cravings is cosy with seating for about a dozen and an easy vibe. “I am not looking for profits yet. I am just working on
word-of-mouth ads,” says Krish (as he prefers to be called) who has a MBA degree, and proudly adds that the rating in Zomato has climbed from 3.1 to 3.6 and that he hopes to touch 4 soon.
With typical café staples like sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, burgers and milkshakes, Krish suggests I start with their popular Farm Fresh sandwich (at Rs75). The toasty triangles are stuffed with cheesy sauce, finely diced veggies, and a delightful smidgeon of ginger. “All the sauces are made in-house,” informs Krish. th fresh tomato slices definitely hits the spice button. The Signature Chef’s Special pasta (Rs150) is a mix of fusilli and penne, and as promised, the white sauce is unique and addictive with a pleasant sweetish tinge . Meanwhile, the pizza topping is saucy and generous with a comforting homely flavour and a thin crunchy crust. The menu also includes weekend specials that feature fresh cream desserts. Krish lets in that he has plans of adding a live counter and sherbets from his hometown in Andhra Pradesh, this summer.
