Take a turn at Pycrofts Garden Road and you are greeted by a bright blue restocafe on the left with a freshly manicured lawn, a picket fence, and eight Havanese pups running straight at you! Didn’t expect that did you? Twisty Tails opened last Friday and is the only restaurant in the city that also has a handcrafted three-course meal for pooches.

Three’s a charm
Started by three friends Guru Prakash, Rekha Dhandey and Vikram Vaishnav, Twisty Tails has been fashioned into a modern and swanky, London-styled café, from a 60-year-old house. It looked right out of Instagram with its aesthetic cyan-coloured interiors and Tardis-like doors. Each wall has lettered instalments of terms related to dogs like sit, treat and roll over. The 86-seater joint has designated spaces for dining and the café experience.

After heading a consulting company  specialising in customised dining experiences, the trio opened Twisty Tales. “It’s like the  Love Cafe in Hong Kong where huskies run about. It's almost like pet therapy,” says Guru.

Flavour stop
The cuisine is a mix of continental, Asian, tandoori and North Indian. We are served the spinach garlic crostinis first, a creamy and crunchy combo which is a burst of flavour, yet not overwhelming. We choose the Dhaba Chilli Chicken nachos next which is shredded chilli chicken on nachos with salsa. For pescetarians, there’s Panko fried shrimp and pound pepper sesame fish — both infused with fresh flavours. However, their piece de resistance was the Tapenade Paneer angara — an olive tapenade-centred paneer steak with Indian mustard,  served on a vertical skewer. The house specialty Dhabewali Jhatka rice, a pre-mixed gravy and rice dish is worth a try.

Desserts were a visually tantalising spread with a Double Punch Citrus tart (go easy. The tang will knock your socks off!), Opera, Our Way ( three-tiered chocolate cake) and a delectable Jumbo Mocha Eclair. The winner is the eclair, made with the softest choux dough and the creamiest vanilla custard filling. For drinks, we recommend the chocolate mud sip and Zaffrani Thandai.

Meanwhile, the menu for the dogs  has 26 dishes from a soup to mains and dessert and is custom made to the breed and capacity.”  So if you want to take your pet out to dine with you, Twisty Tails is a ‘mutt’ try!

A meal for two is  `1,000, while a meal for your pet is `300 upwards.
