Mimansa focuses on Ayurvedic cooking and alternative options

The chic Foxtrot - House of Subculture launches with a wellness cafe in Koramangala

Azure Hospitality has brought us favourites such as Mamagoto, Sly Granny and, more recently, Foxtrot. Their latest offering is Mimansa, an urban wellness cafe. Located within the new Foxtrot - House of Subculture, the cafe promises to create a whole ecosystem of health and wellness, with an indoor café, a boutique store and a rooftop garden with a movement studio.

On our visit, Malika Suri, the founder of the space, took us through the retail store. We saw eco conscious brands such as Burlap, Vedic Company, Dhatu and more, along with specialists of acupuncture, Tibetan medicine, reflexology and more.  After a quick tour of the rooftop, we sat down for our lunch.

Ragi Dosa

“All our dishes are made in accordance with Ayurvedic practices, and some are even my mom’s personal recipes,” Malika tells us. We start with a range of tonic and raw pressed juices. We sampled the Hormonal Balance, Digestive Aid, Blood Cleanser and, our favourite, House of Greens.

For our first course, we had the Mushroom Broth with Black Rice. We were told there was no cream in the soup, yet it surprised us with its rich flavour and silky texture. Next on the table was the Beetroot Salad with seasonal greens, feta and mixed seeds, with a sarson mustard dressing. Even though admittedly we are not beetroot fans, the dressing won us over. For mains, we first tried the Red Snapper and a Thai Bowl, with pearl barley. But it was the Ragi Dosa that we really loved. This healthy option is stuffed with
masala pumpkin, beetroot and broccoli, instead of the usual potato filling.

Sweet talk
All their desserts are made using natural sweeteners, and hence can be indulged in guilt-free. All the chocolate used in the kitchen is sourced from Mason and Co. We recommend the Carrot Halwa with ginger-jaggery sauce and the chewy Chocolate Almond Brownie. With plenty of vegan and gluten-free options, a focus on wholesomeness and a space for activities, Mimansa certainly makes a mark.

Trotting along
In stark contrast to the calming and minimalism of Mimansa, is Foxtrot - House of Subculture on the two floors below it. With flashy neon lights, bold canvases and Bohemian interiors, this house of subculture aims to be a space for the alternative party crowd. Promising eclectic cocktails, a selection of global small and large plates, private party rooms, and great music, this will surely be the new address to party at in Koramangala.
