“Whisky has such a huge variety of flavour profiles and even after working with it for over a decade there is immense scope for adventure every time you find a new bottle or discover a distillery,” says Jamie Walker, the Reserve Brand Ambassador of Diageo India. As we gear up to celebrate World Whisky  Day on May 19, connoisseurs who are reading this will agree that when it comes to the ‘water of life,’ there is something new to learn every day. Jamie moved to India in 2015 and now helps bartenders and hospitality professionals understand the “nuances of the spirit”. And if you want to raise a toast and celebrate whisky this Saturday, he gives us the recipe of ‘The Golden Ticket’, a drink he created recently. Although Jamie admits that his devotion to the classic whisky sour is for forever, he likes to experiment with newer ingredients and see what goes well with the single and the blended malts. “In the Golden Ticket, for instance, the elderflower and apple cider vinegar play off against each other well, and is great for the Indian summers. It is quite the beautiful twist,” says the whisky expert, who started serving drinks during his university days in Aberdeen, Scotland and never looked back.
