200 women from 11 ladies clubs will raise funds to educate the girl child
When around 200 women from over 11 ladies clubs come together with dance, music and fun games in mind, you would be surprised to know that there is more to it than a fun evening. Slated to be held next week, the second edition of Beautiful Beginnings, organised by Junior Sakhi Mandal Sahyog, the 40-year-old NGO will bring together women from various walks of life, all for the cause of girl child education.
“We had the first edition of Beautiful Beginnings, the first ever inter- ladies club event, back in 2000 and as we bring a sequel to it, we want it to be different, more fun and entertaining,” says Raksha Mehta, former president of the Junior Sakhi Mandal Sahyog who added that they felt it was time to bring the clubs together again. “Back then, we had the event with competitions like pictionary, dumb charades and such, but this time we have added more fun elements like a lucky draw and tambola with exciting prizes and
cultural programmes including singing, dancing and a fashion show,” she adds.
With members from clubs including Sakhi Mandal Sahyog, Youth Sakhi Mandal, Samanvay, Prerna, Moksha and more participating, the event will have members across the age spectrum, from those in their 20s to 70-year-old Sakhi Mandal members. “Having held various fundraising events over the years, we have always made sure that each of them is unique in its own way. Though it is primarily a fundraising event, we wanted to provide an opportunity for people to meet up and have a good time,” Raksha shares, adding that the event is open to all women.
