Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games but she had more than one reason to celebrate after returning home from Indonesia. She got engaged at the airport to long time friend Somveer Rathi, a Greco-Roman wrestler himself, as soon as she landed.
According to media reports, Vinesh did win the gold in wrestling but was involved in controversy after being romantically linked with gold-medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. However, Phogat immediately took to Twitter to slam the reports about the closeness between the two and expressed her disappointment about them.
However, the engagement seems to have helped as it will now shut down rumours of an alleged relationship with Neeraj. Vinesh took to Instagram to post about the engagement and said there isn’t a more special moment for her and said the birthday will always be a memorable one.
