Backed by a family legacy of Steel businesses, Leap India Institute, aims to endow its students with vocational skill sets to accelerate their employability. With an aim to provide vocational education across creative and professional streams across various verticals such as Photography, Health and Wellness, Soft Skills, Makeup, Hair Care, Hospitality etc., Leap India is now set to launch world’s leading make-up institute Make-up Designory (MUD) in India. The institute has also collaborated with renowned photographer Rohan Shrestha to introduce a curriculum in photography.

The launch evening was marked by Bollywood stars and socialites including Ranveer Singh, Kriti Sanon, Kalki Koechlin, Dia Mirza, Upen Patel and many more. The event began with the welcome note from LEAP India owner Mr. Varun Gupta who is the brainchild behind bringing Make-up Designory to India followed by the fashion showcase where Make-up Designory artists showcased nine prosthetic looks. The event also announced the retailing of Make-up Designory products in India through an e-tail partner Myntra.

MUD trains hundreds of students from around the world every year to enable them to work in fashion, film, and television. Its specialties include beauty makeup artistry, character makeup and special makeup effects. With its flagship in Los Angeles, the hub of Hollywood and New York City, and branches across international locations such as Berlin, Philippines, Antwerp, Milan, Gent and Guatamela; its entry into the hub of Bollywood, Mumbai is an exciting transition.

According to research conducted by the National Institute of Skill Development, nearly 300 million youth are currently under employed or unemployed, and presently only 2% of the country’s total workforce has undergone skills training. The Leap India Institute functions under three principles - Learn, Train, and Earn - aiming to endow its students with the appropriate certification, skill training and vocation to bridge the gap between formal qualifications and skill-based employability which is indeed the requirement of today’s day and age.

MUD also has a range of products, which have been popularly retailed and distributed in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Australia, West Africa, Mexico, Guam and the Dominican Republic. In India, the cosmetics will initially be retailed on popular e-commerce platforms Myntra and Nykaa, aside from being available to students at the institute. With systematic lines, precision tools, how-to guides and insider tips, the brand offers simple, smart, versatile makeup preferred by the professionals.

The institute has simultaneously planned a strategic collaboration for its photography program, which complements its vision to build talent and proficiency in creative arts with Bollywood’s favorite and India’s most sought-after fashion photographer Rohan Shrestha.

Talking about this new venture, Mr. Varun Gupta (Founder and CEO LEAP India) said that, “We are excited to bring the world’s leading make-up academy to India. With MUD, one will experience the first-ever curriculum led education to makeup and prosthetics. Makeup Designory will indeed make makeup more pervasive and will no more be a thing for a select few. Above all, makeup will now be inventive and original and within the timelines of global trends.”

India’s famous fashion photographer Rohan Shrestha said that “I have never had an opportunity to learn photography through a curriculum led course which could explain the fundamentals of this vocation. With this school of photography, I intend to entwine the classroom theories (which are actually the founding principles of photography) with a firsthand introduction to photography on a fashion shoot. This will provide the aspirants, the right push and an exposure that will enable them to lift their passion into profession.” The academy will be open for enrolments starting February 07th, 2018.
