Twitter outrage over website claiming brides, made to order

Last day, a matrimonial website offering “brides that meet your demands” appeared on Twitter and soon made it to the headlines following a mass Twitter outrage.

But it turns out that it was a social media experiment by actress Gul Panag and a TV channel.

The fake website, by the name, mysonikudi.com categorised brides into 12 bizarre criteria such as 5-star etiquette, black beauty, agyakaari, sanskaari, bride school trained, and NRI ready.

Panag, on Monday, shared her opinion about the website that assured “rigorous layers of quality checks pertaining to aesthetics, skills-sets and behavioral patterns” of brides.

The next day, she revealed on Twitter that the website was fake and part of an experiment in order to mirror the harsh social reality. Meanwhile, the website was receiving severe backlash on social media where people tweeted with the hashtag #ChangeHerNot.

The experiment was later applauded by the Twitterati.
