While Devanahalli is most commonly associated with the airport, the Brigade Orchards township in the area houses the Signature Club Resort, that makes for a perfect day trip. Promising a “green carpet experience” the resort practices rainwater harvesting, has solar powered lights, smart waste disposal and fresh plantations.
The place is designed like a Mangalorean house with verandas and traditional tiles. We started our short visit with a scrumptious lunch buffet at Tamarind, their all day dining restaurant. On offer were Indian, continental and Asian classics. We retired to the room soon after. The double bed room, has a small balcony with a view of the lush property, which was the perfect place to unwind.
The evening saw us taking a short walk around the property. We explored the Silver Oaks Lawns, with old and beautiful trees, their two badminton courts, tennis court and more. We also sneaked in a quick coffee at the alfresco style Courtyard Cafe. The cafe is the perfect place to watch the sunset. The highlight of our stay was definitely the heated pool at the resort. The indoor six-lane affair was the perfect temperature for a swim and a bit of lounging by the pool. Post that, we decided to order room service for dinner and enjoyed a bit of good old Chinese fare in the company of a Sex and the City marathon on the TV.
Well rested, the next morning we headed out to breakfast at Tamarind and were pleasantly surprised by the healthy options such as methi water, Ragi malt and lemon cucumber juice, apart from a hearty South Indian spread. A leisurely breakfast later, it was time to leave. With courteous staff, an eco-friendly approach and its proximity to the airport, the Signature Club Resort makes for a great mini break.
