LED kindly light: ITC Grand Chola in Chennai has a 16 foot sustainably lit Christmas tree!

Celebrating a responsible Christmas since the hotel’s inception, ITC Grand Chola recently unveiled a sustainable 16-foot-tall LED lit Christmas tree.

Embodying ITC Hotels’ ethos of ‘Responsible Luxury’ - these modern bulbs are the way forward instead of the traditional fluorescent and incandescent lights. It is also important to note that assembling the structure involved zero plastic!

Incidentally, in previous years - the hotel has put together a 'Kanchipuram Sari Christmas tree' and even one made from 'engineering waste'.

This time around, the LED has been themed to represent the  simplest  natural resource available  to  us  - wind. And, what better time than Christmas to showcase the  beauty  of the gift of wind, illuminating happiness! A clean source of renewable energy, it does not cause any emissions or deplete any resources. It is notable to mention at this stage that ITC Grand Chola is powered by their own Wind turbines (14.6 MW)

After  the festivities, the tree will be dismantled into smaller parts and will be used to adorn and beautify buffet set ups around the hotel, thereby making this year’s Christmas tree timeless!
