City photographer Vivian Sarky frames four beautiful models in Kolkata
His wish to hold on to the memories of his late uncle, who was a professional photographer, turned this 29-year-old BBA graduate into a passionate shutterbug. “I got exposed to the world of photography and the camera at a very young age due to him. When he passed away a few years ago, I inherited his Nikon D80, which was my first tryst with a proper camera,” recalls the polite lensman, who left the job of a purchase executive (which offered him no creative outlet) in 2012 to follow his dream of making a mark as a fashion photographer. “I signed up for a one-year course in commercial photography at an institute in Sector V. Since then, I have been doing portfolio work for various aspiring make-up artists and beauty advisors and it has been a satisfying journey,” he tells.
All the shoots with these four featured women were a part of a portfolio or product shoot. In the shoot with Ishrat, he wanted to showcase both her personality and the dress she was endorsing as a blogger. It was her first professional shoot and Vivian found her to be a fast learner, with her eyes being her best feature. With Neha, he tried to recreate the bridal look and she did complete justice to it since she is very photogenic. “In the make-up shoot with Rinzeema, I wanted to highlight the power woman attitude, reflecting the inner strength of a woman,” he explains. “And Riya can carry any look flawlessly,” feels the budding lensman, who loves to play the keyboard when he isn’t working.

Ishrat Afreen| 25, height: 5 ft 3 inches
Ishrat did this portfolio-cum-fashion shoot with Vivian for a friend. She has worn an orange coloured cotton ombre suit, a tiedye noodle strap dress and a slit cotton maxi dress for the shoot. A social media influencer who regularly posts on Instagram about beauty, fashion and skincare products, this vivacious girl is also a part-time model and wants to grow in the modelling industry. “When it comes to my personal style, I love wearing smart Western casuals like denim paired with breathable summery cotton or linen shirts. I pair this with ankle-length faux leather boots in black,” Ishrat tell us, adding that she also loves to wear whites with red checks. For an evening out, she likes to stick to leather mini skirts in camel colour, beige or maroon, or wear mid-length flowy dresses in viscose or plain cotton. “Depending on my mood they can be in solid colours, geometric prints or leafy prints,” Ishrat tells. When it comes to accessories, watches are a must for this pretty young thing besides stone danglers for ears. “For make-up, I love highlighting my eyes with a liner and lots of mascara, and I wear nude shades in liquid shine on lips,” she says.

Riya Bhattacharjee | 25, height: 5 ft 8 inches
A model since 2016, this aspiring young girl is making her mark in the modelling circuit with her boho-chic looks and curls. In this shoot, for renowned sari brand Kanishka with Vivian, she is seen rocking the traditional look with oomph. “Even when it comes to dressing up for occasions or festivities, my first choice is always a sari and currently I am drooling over handloom and jamdani drapes,” says Riya, who has completed her Masters in English and is pursuing modelling full-time. She believes blouses make or break a sari look and she designs her own stuff in raw silk. “I love deep cut blouses since they accentuate collarbones,” she adds. For parties, it’s always the micromini bodycon for this girl, who loves them in black and red, her favourite colours. For daily wear, she likes keeping it very casual with joggers and jumpsuits paired with quirky sneakers and reflectors in cool colours. “I’m not much of a make-up person and usually stick to shades of red lipsticks and a lot of mascara for eyes,” Riya tells us.

Neha Lohia | 28, height: 5 ft 4 inches
The spunky lady, a beauty advisor by profession, is extremely passionate about all things make-up and it was for one such make-up portfolio for a friend that she shot with Vivian. Neha, who aspires to be a full-time model and increase her body of work further, enjoys wearing primarily Western attire. “I love one-piece dresses in A-line cuts. They can be plain ones or with geometric patterns,” says the congenial model. She also loves being in her favourite pair of grey denims with shirts and black, white and all shades of blue are her favourite colours. For a family occasion or festivities, she loves flaunting the ethnic look with a long flowy anarkali kurta in navy or royal blue shades and her fabrics of choice are chiffon, georgette and cotton. Chandelier earrings and cocktail rings are her first choice of accessory and she loves experimenting with make-up. “I like liner and heavy mascara for my eyes and like to experiment with my lips and love wearing matte colours in hues of pink, nudes and wine,” says Neha, who loves shopping and listening to music.

Rinzeema Lama| 33, height: 5 ft 3 inches
A professional make-up artist from the small hilly town Lamahatta near Darjeeling, Delhi-based Rinzeema loves to model whenever an opportunity arises. In this portfolio shoot, she wanted to underscore the make-up work she does, hence all other elements have been kept low-key. “I like both Western and ethnic clothes, depending on the occasion but I love wearing short skirts the most. Currently, I am donning the retro look a lot,” tells Rinzeema. When it comes to traditional wear, she likes saris the most, especially in georgettes and chiffons both in solid and prints. “I love wearing bracelets and body chains and when it comes to make-up I like smoky eyes with nude lips,” tells the spunky woman, who loves Salsa.
