The Kolkata Expo 2019 establishes a platform to connect business leaders across the country
The inaugural ceremony of the first edition of the Kolkata Expo 2019 in association with Indulge was a grand affair; the opening of the business trade expo saw some of the most established business leaders joining hands to welcome the initiative, which is mainly a connecting and collaborating platform for big and small businesses in Kolkata, and from across the country. The expo will go on from June 21 to 23 at Ice Skating Rink, and features 75+ exhibitors, from myriad fields of the commercial market, from furniture to ship care to leather gear, apparel, accessories, to manufactured edibles.
The expo, organised by the Dawoodi Bohra community, featured some well-known and some up and coming vendors and manufacturers from Kolkata, and also names from Mumbai, Istanbul, Vizag and Mumbai. "The expo is actually something that's happening here for the first time; it's organised by the Dawoodi Bohra community, and it's set to feature an excellent business trade networking scenario. We have a range of business entrepreneurs majorly from Kolkata, but also from across Asia showcasing their products. We are also looking to felicitate quite a few female entrepreneurs on the second day of the expo," says Tasneem Fakhri, one of the main organisers for the event besides Mannan Arenpurwala and Munira Lakdawala, who are a part of the core team.
The inauguration featured business leader and author Sheikh Akhir Basrai, Janab Murtazza Bhai Saheeb Hasni from Kolkata’s Saifee Masjid, and entrepreneur Bimal Samal of BNI Kolkata, and some other distinguished names, who presided over the ceremony.
“This is our mutual leap towards many possibilities which lie ahead of us,” Tasneem kick-started the event with this positive note.
The show aims at providing quality merchandise, be it in apparel, lifestyle, interior, hardware, and several other fields; since the expo features exhibitors from across industries, you’ll be taken aback with the diversity in some of the stalls. We dropped in to get a first-day look at the expo, and found Ice Skating Rink quite packed with browsing consumers; the expo is obviously a great place to network, especially for trade visitors, start-up owners, or small businessmen.
Some of the names who are participating are Tea Raja, a premium estate tea brand, the familiar dairy company Amul, lifestyle brands like Tree of Life and Rupal’s Gift, and so on. But if you’re just there to peruse, you must check out the entire breadth of the fair to understand how stunning the concept is.
We found an amazing festive wear label and some stationary brands; and also managed to browse through some hardware gears and load up on our chocolate stock, all under the same roof. The three-day expo is a stunning business and trade environment, or even if you’re in the mood to splurge your hard earned money on some winsome investments this weekend.
The expo is on till June 23, 11 am to 8 pm
