Kolkata pets get their first 24/7 private critical and veterinary emergency care facility
If you are among the pet lovers who feel harassed and driven from pillar to post when their pets fall severely ill or get injured, then this piece of news is sure to relieve you. Kolkata got its first private 24X7 veterinary emergency and critical care facility called Advanced Pet Care, that was launched amid much fanfare yesterday. This swanky new unit will offer such medical services including will clinical pathology, radiology, ultrasound imaging and cardiac monitoring, for your pets under one roof and will be manned by a group of experienced veterinary doctors. A doctor will be available 24 hours to handle any emergency case.
The services on offer also include Emergency & Critical Care Departments, In-Patient Care, Out Patient Department, Surgical Facilities and Diagnostics Facilities. A team of senior doctors will be available for consultations at the OPD Clinic 6 days a week from 10 am to 10 pm, whereas for critical ailment and emergency the centre is open 24x7, throughout the year.
The operation theatre has all the important features like gas anaesthesia workstation imported from the UK, oxygen delivery and respiratory support and intra-operative vital signs monitoring of temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as well as electrocardiography, pulse oximetry and capnography. The highlight of the surgical infrastructure is the heated veterinary surgical table which reduces the risk of hypothermia in the patient during surgery.
“Our pets are as much a part of our family as our human relatives and we believe that they deserve a similar standard of medical care. Advanced Pet Care will provide multi-speciality veterinary services similar to those available in a human hospital while meeting the unique requirements of pets and their owners”, said Subhayan Gangully Director, Advanced Pet Care.
All surgeries will be performed with autoclave sterilised instruments and the operating theatre is disinfected and sterilised at regular intervals. Sometimes, pet owners just do not have the time, manpower or infrastructure to take care of their ailing pets at home. Even a course of post-surgery antibiotics involves a daily visit to the veterinary clinic which is stressful and traumatic for both pet and owner. "Patients admitted in the in-Patient department will be monitored by our team of doctors, veterinary technicians and assistants. Pets will receive their medication and treatments on time and any significant change in the condition of the patient will be immediately communicated to the pet owner and the doctor on call," informs Gangully.
The launch of this facility saw a host of celebrity pet-lovers gracing the occasion including tabla maestros Tanmoy Bose and Bickram Ghosh, singers Kaushiki Chakraborty, Rupam Islam, Anupam Roy, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, filmmaker Mainak Bhaumik, actors Sreelekha Mitra, Swastika Mukherjee, Parno Mittra and June Maliah, choreographer Sudarshan Chakraborty, artist Sanatan Dinda and radio jockey Mir.
