Eros International’s Trinity Pictures announced on Thursday that Rana Daggubati  will star in the remake of the 1971 film Haathi Mere Saathi, that tells the story of Raju and his love for elephants. The role represents a shift for the Baahubali star.

Daggubati told reporters, "There's a very exciting physical language to the character I'm playing in Haathi Mere Saathi, something entirely different from what I've done in the past. I've always wanted to be a part of content that can travel across the country."

The filming locations are to include areas in Thailand and several different regions in India. Directed by Prabhu Solomon, the film Daggubati says is "a rare story about the relevance of nature in our lives, narrated through a wonderful relationship between man and elephant. This story is definitely another of those rare challenges I'm beginning to enjoy being a part off."

The movie is set to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu during Diwali 2018.
