Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been found guilty and convicted in the 1998 Blackbuck killing case on Thursday. The Jodhpur court has handed him a five-year jail term. 

The actor has been charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act under which the maximum punishment is six years on conviction.

The 52-year-old superstar has been accused of killing two Blackbucks (Indian antelope) during the shooting of his film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in Jodhpur's Kankani village. 

Interestingly, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam - the other actors involved in the case, have been acquitted.

Salman Khan arrived for the hearing in Mumbai from Abu Dhabi, where he is currently shooting for the movie 'Race 3'.
