Google celebrates the life of illusionist and film director Georges Melies with a 360-degree virtual reality doodle. 

Melies was one of the filmmakers who brought numerous tricks and illusions to filmmaking. Before becoming a filmmaker Melies was a trained magician and was introduced to this field by two masters of crafts, namely John Maskelyne and David Devant. He was also the one who paved way for all the special effects we see today and he is still remembered as one of the most iconic cinematographers.

His movies, The Trip To The Moon and The Impossible Voyage, released in the year 1902 and 1904 were considered to be the most important early science fiction films.

The doodle, an interesting collaboration of the Google Doodle, Google Spotlight Stories, Google Arts and Culture and Cinematheque Française teams, was produced by Nexus Studio. People can also enjoy the doodle without a 360-degree video on the Google Spotlight stories or their Youtube Channel.
