The 7th generation Lexus ES300h made its debut in the Indian market and is set to be the car that will shape the future for the brand in India. After all, it is feature rich, a blast to drive, and offers a very low cost of ownership.

Attention to detail
This vehicle has been crafted to perfection. It boasts of sleek lines, a bold wide stance, a coupe-like profile, and enough chrome to lend it that upmarket sheen that we so love. The characteristic Lexus grille, LED lighting, and 18-inch multi-spoke alloys also do their bit to enhance the visual appeal of this luxury car.
There is a fair amount of Japanese tradition that goes into building a Lexus and the ES 300h is no different. Known as omotenashi – the spirit of hospitality, the automobile has been crafted to welcome you into the plush cabin. The fine materials, fantastic fit, and finish, as well as the space on board—all work to deliver that magic. Start the car and the way it lights up is also part of the whole ‘greeting’.

Tech-savvy
In terms of features, the executive sedan gets a multi-information display, a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch display, wireless charging, console-mounted climate and audio controls, semi-airline seats, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson Pure Play system which offers an unparalleled level of sound quality, rear seat controls, rear reclining seats and a 454-litre trunk that has an auto open / close functionality.

Under the hood
It is powered by a hybrid powertrain that includes a 2.5-litre petrol engine along with the 4th generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system. The combined output is 217 PS of power and you should know that this is a Euro 6 compliant engine as well. It has a limited top speed limited of 190 kmph and can deliver 22.37 kmpl! With multiple drive modes, the ES 300h can transform into a sporty sedan as well and offer a rather engaging driving experience.

The verdict
The new model comes with 10 airbags, vehicle stability control, an anti-theft system and hill start assist. It is built tough and drives like a dream. Set to go up against the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6, this car does have tough competition but it also has a lot going for it and that could be a big contributing factor to its success. The Lexus ES 300h is priced at `59, 13, 000.
