This is a product that promises a fine combination of off-road driving characteristics with premium appeal, spaciousness, practicality and comfort. The GLC follows the latest design language of Mercedes-Benz and has nice flowing lines with a sporty yet premium appeal. It has a wide stance and definitely looks ready to take on some dirt if required, and the cabin complements its premium nature with fine materials and an exquisite finish.
The highlight of the new GLC is the introduction of the MBUX system that the manufacturer likes to call innovative telematics. It is a combination of navigation, augmented reality, intelligent voice control that can be summoned by saying ‘Hey Mercedes’ and it also comes with ‘what3words’ location technology in-built to offer a seamless and intuitive customer experience when it comes to navigation. Incidentally, the GLC is the first Mercedes-Benz product in India to get NTG 6 telematics.
Powering the vehicle is a new range of BS6 engines. The GLC 200 gets an in-line 4-cylinder unit that delivers 197 hp and 320 Nm of peak torque. It is capable of taking the GLC from 0-100 kmph in just 7.8 seconds while remaining rather fuel-efficient as well. The diesel version, namely the GLC 220 d 4MATIC also gets an in-line 4-cylinder engine, however, this motor delivers 194 hp of power and 400 Nm of peak torque. It is capable of taking this premium SUV from 0-100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds!
Targeted at the tech-savvy individual who enjoys a certain standard of premiumness and enjoys the outdoors, the GLC has been priced rather aggressively.
The GLS 200 is pegged at `52.75 lakh and the GLC 220 d 4MATIC priced at `57.5 lakh.
