Head to Kesariya for a festival focussed on Rajasthani craft

While Rajasthan is just a short aeroplane ride away, one can experience the culture, heritage and cuisine of the state in the comfort of our own city, thanks to Rajasthani restaurant, Kesariya. Said to be Bengaluru’s first Shekhawat restaurant, it will host a festival titled Rangeelo Rajasthan, which will showcase the art forms of the rural regions of the state.

Set to kick off tomorrow, one can expect to witness artists from various regions of the North-Western state showcasing their craft. Lac bangles are a traditional artform and one can witness the artists, called lakharas, creating these bangles out of charcoal. Made from lac, a natural resin obtained from Kerria Lacca, the bangles bear intricate designs.

Besides the bangle makers, there will also be potters or khumars who will make earthenware pottery, which is one of the oldest handicrafts of Rajasthan. One can also get their hands hennaed by skilled mehendi artists who will be present at the venue.

The restaurant has curated a special menu to go with the festival. The spread will include summer specials from the region. On offer will be dishes like Aloo matar mangodi ki subzi, Jodhpuri kofta, khatti meethi kadhi, bajra roti and ram keechdi, besides desserts like raabdi, moong dal halwa and ke sariya angoordana.

Until February 17. At JP Nagar
