Maala aka Evan Sinton, New-Zealand based singer songwriter, shot to fame with his songs Kind of Love, Touch and In the Air. The 22-year-old popstar first came into the limelight when he appeared on  New Zealand’s Got Talent and finished third. We catch up with him as he heads to the city for a performance. “This is the first time I am visiting India! I’m excited and nervous at the same time,” he says.

His debut album, Composure, has a soulful electronic vibe. “Composure, to me, was about working through a lot of different conflicting emotions and making sense of it all,” Evan says about the album. The album was highly acclaimed for its pop and emo shades, and even earned him four nominations and a win, “I would have never imagined that it would win the Best Male Solo Artist at the NZ Music Awards!” he exclaims.

Talking about his journey on reality TV, he comments that it was great exposure to the industry, “It gave me the amazing opportunity to work with different teams. It taught me lot of life lessons which I will never forget.” As for future plans, Evan is now writing and working towards releasing a second album.
