‘Did Beyonce copy South African musician Petite Noir's visuals for the music video of Spirit?’
It all started when fans noticed similarities between the costumes used in the video and fantasy horror movie Suspiria
Beyonce dropped the latest music video for her single Spirit from The Lion King: The Gift, an album accompanying the movie that debuted on Friday.
While the song that was included in the film has received praise from all quarters, a forum on the internet has accused the singer of stealing elements and sequences from South African musician Petite Noir.
It all started when fans noticed similarities between the costumes used in the video and fantasy horror movie Suspiria.
The images soon found their way onto social media and fashion watchdog account Diet Prada shared a post, talking about the ‘inspiration’, albeit in a tamer tone.
Another Twitter took things further with a deep dive into the Petit Noir’s music video La Maison Noir: The Gift and the Curse here and create frame by frame comparisons of the videos.
From the looks of it, Beyonce’s Spirit seems to have been inspired by its visuals extensively.
