Chandigarh's rap crew Warboy x DEVM win the Season 2 of Red Bull Spotlight. After a series of gruelling city rounds, the 10 finalists selected from 10 cities across the country – Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Pune, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh – travelled to Mumbai for the national final, which was held at Above the Habitat on June 13. Representing Chandigarh after winning the round earlier this year, Warboy x DEVM put on a spectacular show at the national final and were ultimately crowned winners of Red Bull Spotlight 2019.
They will now be given the opportunity to record their full-length album at a professional studio, plus other benefits including a full press kit – complete with a photo shoot and album art for their newly recorded album – and a music video.
Each of the finalists performed two original tracks to a jury that consisted of some of the finest rap crews in the country today – Seedhe Maut, Swadesi and Dopeadelicz. The host for the evening was Enkore, with DJ Uri on turntables duties.
It was a closely fought battle, with the finalists bringing their own unique style to their performances, from Gujarati rap by MC Swaggy to Marathi by MC Dodo, to English and Hindi by various other participants. Following the performances by the finalists, the audience was treated to sets by each of the judges and the host. As Swadesi wound up their set, all the judges took the stage again to announce the winner – Warboy x DEVM.
The duo from Chandigarh then had the opportunity to jam with all the judges, as the night turned into a fantastic party, with all the judges then in an open jam, performing each of their songs together.
